Colorado Racing Information
Fast and Clean is the slalom racer's motto, but just imagine how these words can apply to recreational paddling! Whether your goal is to catch a few more eddies while running rapids, to set yourself up better for your favorite play hole, or to train for some serious creeking, practicing in gates could be for you!
If the racing bug hits you, most competitions have classes for boaters of all ages and levels, ranging from novice to expert. Race boats are not required, so don't feel as though you can't use the same boat you normally paddle. Check out the information below and come on out and join the fun!!
Slalom Practice Sessions
The Clear Creek gates are back up for the season. Additionally, the gates at 20th Street on the South Platte just downstream of Confluence Park are available for your use - great for some flat-water stroke work! (For location, do a Mapquest search for City of Cuernavaca Park, park in the lot there and head down to the river)
Colorado Cup Slalom Race Series
The goal of the Colorado Cup Slalom Race Series, which links the various slalom races from across the state into a "just for fun" competition, is to encourage novice as well as experienced slalom racers to come out and enjoy the many races in Colorado. It's structured so that both novice and expert boaters both have a chance at winning the series. Click here for series information and rules, and watch for the 2007 schedule to be posted.
