Colorado River Weekend - September 9 - 11, 2022!
Join us for the last river weekend of 2022 on the Colorado River!
CAMPING: We will be camping at the Pumphouse Campground (Co Hwy 106, Kremmling, CO 80459) in group campsites A & B. From Dillon take Hwy 9 North 36 miles to miles to Grand County Road 1 (Trough Road). Go west on Trough Road for about 11 miles, and turn right onto Pumphouse access road. Take the road to the river. The campground has pit toilets but no running water so bring whatever you need. We have reserved the group campsites for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights so 1) vehicles can be left at the site on Sunday while you boat and 2) you can camp there Sunday night if desired. There probably isn't room for large campers but raft trailers should be fine. There are also 20 individual campsites that may be better for campers but are all first come first served. There is a day-use fee of $5 per day, payable to the BLM on entry for each vehicle.

CRUISES: Cruises from here are downstream on the Colorado from Pumphouse, the Lower Blue if it is running, Gore Canyon, and the play wave at the campground. As always we need volunteers to lead cruises, sweep or just help out with registration. If you're willing email Gail Tubbs at gail80220@gmail.com to let him know what you'd like to do.
REGISTRATIONS: The group campground is limited to 60 people. Everyone participating in the weekend must be a CW member and registered regardless of whether they are boating or just a fun hog reading a book on the side of the river for the day. This includes significant others and children.
ACA Membership: CW encourages our members to also be members of the American Canoe Association (ACA). Not only does your $40/year individual membership support the mission and programs of the ACA, it also saves CW $10 per participant per event that we have to otherwise pay ACA for insurance, which frees up your CW membership dues for other CW programs. You can join here if interested Join ACA.
SOME GUIDELINES:
Colorado Whitewater has partnered with Tommy Gram of Whitewater Attainment for an ACA Swiftwater Rescue Clinic for only $225 this year which is over 25% off of list price! This clinic is for all Colorado Whitewater members who are kayakers, canoeists, rafters, duckie captains or just like splashing around in the river.
Somewhere, at sometime, you will wish you knew what to do in a river emergency. Just rescuing gear can turn into a nightmare, never mind rescuing a person. Quick response time and the knowledge to set up a rescue safely are skills you should have as a boater. Make this the year to bring your rescue skills to a higher level. Friends owe it to friends to be capable of river rescue. Kayakers must be of Class II-III ability. Rescue lifejackets are considered personal equipment and are highly recommended. This clinic qualifies as an ACA sanctioned course.
