I’ll never forget sailing with my father when I was very young. At first I was so afraid of the ocean, I used to hang over the windward side of the boat and stare at the hull. Every summer my parents shipped me off to sailing camp, and I would race boats and hang out with my buddies. At the time I never thought I would find anything to replace my love of sailing.

Happily after moving to the Rocky Mountains, I discovered Colorado Whitewater in 2013 and I felt at home in the water again. They not only taught me all the basic kayaking skills, but invited me to explore all the best rivers around the state. My favorite rivers to cruise with my friends are Browns Canyon, The Numbers, Clear Creek, and Boulder Creek. The first run is always the scariest, and I would have never tried without the encouragement of my friends. The best part of kayaking is exploring the river with your friends, and of course sharing stories afterwards.

I became a Certified Instructor with Colorado Whitewater because I feel they have an awesome instructor training program, and I look forward to passing these skills on to our willing and eager students.
